Yellow Beauty

Hi! We’re Yellow Beauty. A skincare collection based on a radical idea – that your beauty goals are yours to define. What’s our job, then? To help you get there. Kind to your skin. Kind to the planet. That’s why we formulate all of our products with powerful, natural ingredients that have been used for centuries. Knowledge is knowing they’ve worked in the past; wisdom is knowing they still do.

Like most great things, Yellow Beauty was born out of love. Partners-in-life Jaz and Jamil started Yellow Beauty based on Jamil's experience attending the Holud ceremony in Bangladesh. It was there that he was introduced to the rich history of turmeric-based skincare through his family. Knowing Jaz struggled with redness and breakouts, they decided to put what he learned into practice. Together, they made something worth sharing.

Unfortunately, they also discovered that a third of the girls in Jamil's homeland are married before their 18th birthday. Yellow Beauty was founded on the singular goal of giving women choice. That’s why we use a share of our profits to help bring an end to child marriage.

We always prioritize organic and fair trade ingredients and produce in small batches to limit waste!

Our glass packaging is recyclable and our boxes and shipping materials are recyclable/compostable. We also offset our carbon emissions from all shipments by contributing to the Jari Pará Project. This REDD+ project is at the front lines of deforestation in the Amazon and is focused on protecting a large area of forest (almost twice the size of Luxembourg) that would have otherwise been destroyed by clear-cutting.

We work closely with a boutique formulation and manufacturing lab locally here in Toronto that only works with natural skincare brands.

In Bangladesh, the legal age of marriage is 18 years old. But up to 71% of girls are already married when they celebrate this birthday. In fact, more than one-fifth of girls in Bangladesh find themselves married before the age of 15 –the highest rate in the world. That’s roughly 12 million girls every year. It’s a vicious cycle fueled by generations of poverty, absence of economic opportunity, and a lack of access to education.

More than one-fifth of girls in Bangladesh are married before the age of 15. These girls deserve a voice. They deserve to choose. That’s why we’re proud to contribute 10% of our profits to Plan International Canada, a global organization focused on advancing children’s rights and equality for girls.

Together we’re equipping girls and boys with the information they need to say ‘no’ to child marriage. We’re also mobilizing families and communities to be part of a fundamental attitude shift towards the harmful consequences of child marriage. And because these issues are so often systemic, we’re also helping to scale up age verification and marriage registration systems at all levels of government to equip local leaders with the tools they need to address the problem at the source.

We’re working towards a future where children understand and exercise their rights. A future where they’re able to make informed choices about the sort of lives they want to live. That freedom demands that girls (and boys!) have a real decision about if, when, and who they want to marry. It’s possible. It’s within reach. With your help, we’ll get there.
